Still, there must be something greater. Something that causes the human spirit to drive us onward when we feel like quitting. Challenge seems to bring our powers of optimism to the fore. When life is normal, we forget what it's like to live for the greater good. We forget that we're all in it together.
It's like religious ecstasy. People get very worked up sometimes worshipping God. The rest of the time though, they feel like they're on a low. The only way they can feel high again, is to go through the whole rigamarole again. Or...they find substitutes.
In the end, maybe it's not how you worship, but who you worship. Who is your god? In the same way, it's not how you live, but who you live for...
Me, I live for God.
