Halfling (Dwarf)

Hailing from the United Kingdom, this small subgroup of dwarves are also known as hobbits or hairfeet. Halflings have no facial hair, but have full, curly heads of hair, as well as large amounts of hair on their feet. Slightly shorter than dwarves, and with a dumpy, rather than stocky builds, halflings are often mistaken for chubby children. Halflings prefer to live in comfy burrows underground or in hillsides. Those halflings which have adapted to city life do not seem to mind comfortable above ground abodes however.

Halflings are a generally docile subgroup of dwarves, delighting in fun, games and family. Halflings are clannish, and all active halfling magicians are shamans. While not afraid of modern technology, halflings enjoy simpler pleasures in life such as good food and strong ale. Most halflings avoid invasive technology such as cyberware, but simsense is very popular with halflings.

Halflings are physiologically different from standard dwarves in various ways. They receive the following racial modifications: +1 Body, +1 Quickness, +1 Charisma, Thermograohic Vision, Resistance (+2 Body) to disease only. Halflings must maintain at least a middle lifestyle, i.e. halflings are driven to have a comfortable place to live.

Firbolg (Troll)

From the wilderness of western Europe, firbolgs appear to be closely related to the giant subgroup of trolls. Standing an average of 3 meters in height, firbolgs are large, well-muscled, handsome specimens of the human race. Like giants, firbolgs lack the horns and dermal deposits common to their race. Firbolg natural hair color is either fiery red or golden blond. Most firbolgs have blue eyes, while a rare few have green eyes.

Firbolgs are at home in the wilderness, and most avoid cities at all costs. All firbolgs are magically active, most as adepts, but some few are also mages or shamans. Surprisingly, there are no records of firbolgs as physical adepts. Firbolgs do not have any reservations about technology, but shy away from invasive things such as cybertechnology due to the detrimental effects of cybertechnology on magical abilities.

Firbolgs have the following racial modifications: +3 Body, +4 Strength, Thermographic Vision. Must be magically active.
